01  /  The Material

Carbon.

Built for strength without unnecessary weight. Our Dry Carbon version comes in at under 200 grams. Yeah, we know, it's seriously light.

02  /  The Film

03  /  Production

Six weeks,
start to finish.

Nothing here is pressed out of a machine. Every grille starts as a mould we cut ourselves and ends as a part somebody sanded by hand. This is the whole run, in order.

Stage 01

The plug

We start from an original grille and build the master shape off it.

The master plug for the grille, taped and blended on the workshop bench.
Stage 02

Mould prep

The master gets sealed, taped and walled so the mould pulls clean.

The master grille sealed and walled with tape, ready for the mould to be laid.
Stage 03

The mould

Glass and resin go down over the master, layer by layer, and cure hard.

Glass fibre and resin laid over the master to build the mould.
Stage 04

Mould release

The mould comes off the master, gets trimmed and checked for shape.

The finished mould released from the master and trimmed back.
Stage 05

Laying the carbon

Dry Carbon: 2x2 twill laid in by hand. Forged: chopped tow packed in.

Stage 06

Under vacuum

The bag goes on and the air comes out. Pressure squeezes out every gap.

The vacuum bag laid loosely over the carbon layup in the mould. The vacuum bag drawn tight against the layup once the air is pulled out.
Stage 07

Cure

It sits. This is the part nobody can rush, and it is most of the six weeks.

Stage 08

Demould and trim

Out of the mould, edges cut back, moulding extended for a snug fit.

The cured carbon grille lifted out of the mould before trimming.
Stage 09

Finish

Sanded, polished, checked, and packed with new mounting hardware.

What the vacuum actually does AIR PRESSURE PUSHES DOWN AIR GAPS MOULD CARBON BAG
0.00 bar Bag slack. Air still trapped between the layers.

Pulling the air out lets the outside air press the bag down at about one bar. That is what squeezes the layers together and pushes the resin through.

05  /  Fit and Installation

OEM fit.

Designed as a direct replacement for the OEM grille, with extended moulding for a snug fit. New mounting hardware is included, making installation straightforward.

Before you order.

Will it actually fit a Speed6, or is this a normal Mazda 6 part?

It is made for the Mazdaspeed 6 and Mazda 6 MPS front end, off an original grille. The twin-blade shape is the MPS shape, not the standard Mazda 6 outline.

Grilles have flown off cars at speed. What holds this one on?

It is a direct OEM replacement with extended moulding for a snug fit, and new mounting hardware comes in the box. It mounts where the original mounted.

Will I have to re-do the edges to make it sit right?

No. The moulding is extended so the part sits into the opening properly, and every grille is trimmed and checked by hand before it is packed.

Why six weeks?

Because it is handmade. Stage 07 above is a cure that cannot be rushed. Stock is sometimes available, so ask before you assume you are waiting.

What is the difference between Dry Carbon and Forged Carbon?

Dry Carbon is woven twill and is the lightest, under 200 grams. Forged Carbon is chopped tow, which gives that marbled, no-two-alike surface. Both are handmade and both are direct OEM replacements.
